The excitement surrounding CBD oil is palatable – and for good reason!
Touted as the “next big thing” in the world of all natural health and healing, CBD oil – and other CBD products – are proving to be a lot more effective, a lot more reliable, and a lot more legitimate than many of the modern day snake oil solutions peddled by less than ethical alternative healers in the past.
Sure, some of the marketing and advertising claims of what CBD oil makes possible seem almost too good to be true (possibly even a little bit outlandish).
But when you have reputable organizations like the World Health Organization (WHO) calling CBD oil the most effective holistic remedy to help those suffering from issues ranging from seizures to anxiety to insomnia (and that’s just the tip of the iceberg) you have to sit up and pay attention.
Medical professionals are also jumping on board the CBD oil bandwagon. Dr. Perry Solomon, MD – a board-certified anesthesiologist and the founder as well as Chief Medical Officer at HelloMD – has gone on record proclaiming CBD oil as a major breakthrough in health and wellness community. At the same time, he cautions people from going a little bit overboard on what CBD oil can and cannot do.
And that’s why we’ve put together this quick guide.
While CBD oil is still in its infancy as far as research and products being brought to market is concerned (especially in the United States), there’s enough energy and excitement in these products that morning and more organizations around the world are looking to see just how much CBD oil is really capable of.
To say that CBD is a game changer would be a serious understatement.
It shouldn’t surprise anyone that substances made from cannabis and hemp plants would have the ability to alter someone’s mood, to lower someone’s anxiety, and to change the way someone feels – but CBD takes a different approach to triggering these biochemical reactions compared to its “cousin” THC (the psychoactive substance in marijuana that gets people high).
The National Center for Biotechnology Information (NCIB) has recently published more than a dozen different reports related to the beneficial impact CBD has when it comes to lowering anxiety and evening out someone’s mood.
Recent research suggests that CBD is a legitimate and all-natural anxiolytic and may even be able to be used as an antidepressant, helping people better control everything from socialized anxiety to generalized anxiety. Obviously, CBD and other natural remedies shouldn’t be used as wholesale replacements for current mood disorder/mental health medication protocols – but it’s certainly something you want to talk to your doctor about.
Researchers in the United States have also been exploring whether or not CBD oil can be used to help treat people diagnosed with psychosis, with a considerable amount of medical professionals calling CBD oil a legitimate antipsychotic substance.
Frontiers in Pharmacology recently published a study of CBD used on animals and the researchers reported that CBD had an almost identical pharmacological profile to more traditional antipsychotic drugs.
The US FDA has not always been all that excited about the potential medicinal properties cannabis and hemp may have enjoyed, but there’s been a real shift in the attitude towards these plants in just the last decade or so – to the point where the FDA just recently approved a drug designed to fight back against seizures and epilepsy that uses CBD oil as its backbone ingredient.
Of all the many different benefits CBD oil is purported to offer the majority of the research so far points to it being incredibly effective at fighting back against epilepsy and seizures, with clinical report after clinical report – and this recent decision by the FDA – certainly backing that up.
Some of the most exciting research being conducted right now in the world of CBD is coming out the University of California, Berkeley – research led by Dr. Solomon (who we mentioned above).
A new study published by Dr. Solomon suggests that CBD oil could be used as a pain relief medication with the same kind of beneficial impact as opioids, all without the devastating and deadly addiction properties that those chemical cocktails inevitably bring to the table.
CBD has also been conclusively proven to be an effective anti-inflammatory substance, capable of providing both internal and muscular anti-inflammatory benefits.
The research for CBD being used to combat IBD/IBS and Crohn’s disease issues is still quite new, that the same time is quite promising. The NCBI has a number of different research papers published recently regarding the potential usage of this substance to combat these serious health conditions, though more research is obviously necessary to fully understand how CBD might be used in these situations.
In a 2018 published report, the World Health Organization talked extensively about how CBD could be used as a therapeutic treatment solution for those dealing with serious and life-threatening degenerative diseases like Alzheimer’s, Huntington’s, and Parkinson’s.
CBD may also be able to fight back against diseases like multiple sclerosis, though again the research in these fields is still quite young and needs to be explored to more completely understand the benefits CBD has to offer here.
It’s not at all unusual for every “next big thing” in the world of alternative medicine to be propped up as a potential tool in the fight against cancer, and CBD certainly has been described that way in the past.
Considerably different from other alternative medications that have received this designation in the past is the mounting evidence that CBD is very much a tool to be used in the fight against cancer – with more and more medical professionals around the world agreeing that it can be an effective ally to fight one of the most dangerous, deadly, and insidious medical conditions in our world today.
Back in 2006, the Journal of Pharmacology and Experimental Therapeutics found that CBD had the potential to selectively inhibit the growth of certain cancer cells. Research has been pouring in ever since that early breakthrough, and today we are closer to realizing just how effective an ally CBD can be in the fight against cancer than ever before.
While we have shared a number of the biggest benefits CBD oil has to offer in the world of health, healing, and all-natural medicine it barely begins to scratch the surface of what CBD may truly be capable of.
We are only just beginning to understand the power of cannabidiols and their impact on the human body, how they trigger different biochemical reactions, and what they are short and long-term health and healing prospects may really be.
What we do know for sure, however, is that CBD oil holds a lot of prospect to be a game changer and not just the alternative health community but the traditional health and medical communities as well. More research is obviously ongoing but it certainly looks like CBD oil is going to be a big part of how we heal from here on out.
